Growers Edge Announces Partnership to Farmers Cooperative Society To Launch Innovative Sustainability-Based Crop Plan

Growers Edge and FCS partnership

Johnston, Iowa – September 16, 2021 — Growers Edge, a provider of data-driven financial technology (fintech) solutions for the agricultural industry, today announced a new warranty-backed Crop Plan that helps manage uncertainty for farmers adopting sustainable agricultural practices that benefit soil health, water quality, and long-term profitability. The first sustainability-focused Crop Plan will be offered in partnership with Sioux Center, Iowa-based Farmers Cooperative Society (FCS). As a part of its commitment to help farmers adopt sustainable practices, The Nature Conservancy is contributing support to the Crop Plan offerings that include the establishment of cover crops.

“We are excited to provide financial technology solutions that will help farmers confidently adopt new technologies and practices that benefit their soils, water quality, and nutrient management,” said Tracy Linbo, Chief Commercial Officer, Growers Edge. “Agricultural innovation is critical to solving some of the world’s most pressing challenges while improving soil health and protecting natural resources, but we must also ensure farmers are producing high yields and profits for their operations.”

Based on data and analytics, Growers Edge has developed a sustainability-focused Crop Plan using quality products and services sold by FCS. When farmers follow the specified agronomic practices for the FCS Innovation Assurance program, they receive a warranty-backed performance offer for added peace of mind and investment protection. The FCS Innovation Assurance offer is sold exclusively through FCS agronomists.

“Today’s farmers face an ever-growing list of demands. We’re excited to offer data-based solutions that allow them to minimize risk and financial exposure while they adopt new innovative products and utilize sustainable farming practices that will fit their fields and operations,” said Kris Norgaard, Senior Director of Agronomy, Farmers Coop Society.

Growers Edge partners with ag retailers and input manufacturers to deliver grower-relevant solutions to meet the industry’s ever-changing demands. In 2020, the company closed a $40M Series B round of financing that will help speed the introduction of Crop Plan offers and deploy its financial services platform.
