Johnston, Iowa – January 12, 2021 — Continuing its role as the leader in data-driven financial technology products, solutions, and tools for the agricultural sector, Growers Edge has partnered with the cybersecurity firm Pratum. The partnership will address and improve the company’s position in the rapidly evolving information security environment.

“As innovators in a data-driven industry, we want to model the path forward on information security and privacy for the ag fintech industry,” said Jenna Hoffman, chief data officer of Growers Edge. “Many companies view information security simply as a compliance issue. We’ve partnered with Pratum to help us meet the highest standards in the U.S. and internationally to protect our current customers’ critical data and prepare to hit the ground running in new markets.”

Ben Hall, CISA, CDPSE, will work as the Growers Edge virtual chief information security officer. Hall is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and a Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer (CDPSE), with 12 years of compliance, information security, and information technology experience in the banking, financial, insurance, and healthcare sectors.

“Establishing sound and secure data use practices proves the commitment Growers Edge has to manage and protect customer and proprietary data,” said Ben Hall. “While many other companies will be reacting to new standards, Growers Edge is anticipating where the marketplace is heading. Through our partnership, they protect customer data and be prepared to capitalize on opportunities while competitors are just getting started.”

Pratum’s consulting team and Growers Edge executives and IT leaders have begun implementation of an extensive and thorough risk assessment based on the company’s specific business model. Next, a comprehensive cybersecurity plan will be designed and implemented. Finally, third-party auditors will confirm Growers Edge has invested in the people, processes, and technology required to protect data at all levels of the organization.

Growers Edge intends to achieve both SOC 2 Type 1 and ISO 27001 certifications. Additionally, the company’s cybersecurity plan will position the organization to handle influential standards such as the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA).
