Johnston, Iowa – March 21, 2023 – Growers Edge has a deeply rooted company-wide commitment to delivering the highest standards of security for partners. The company has invested the past two years pursuing SOC 2 accreditation to not just meet but also exceed industry standards and customer expectations for security controls. Today, Growers Edge proudly announced their achievement of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Systems Organizations Controls (SOC) 2 Type II compliance.
“As we continue to scale and deliver fintech solutions with the industry’s most innovative ag retailers, the significance of this accomplishment cannot be understated,” said Hollie Bunn, Interim CEO at Growers Edge. “While supporting the ag industry with our input lending and warranty-backed crop plan products, it is imperative we operate at the highest of standards of quality and compliance. Our team is proud to achieve this milestone as we continue to invest in our architecture and security.”
SOC 2 Type II is considered the gold standard for security compliance for companies that work with private data and information. The certification is a lengthy and intense process that requires companies to establish and follow strict information security policies and procedures, encompassing the security, availability and confidentiality of customer data.
“We knew when we started this journey that it would be extremely valuable to Growers Edge and our partners,” said Todd McCombs, IT Operations Manager at Growers Edge. “Our two-year journey represents thousands of hours of investment in Growers Edge and our partners. Today, we’ve met the highest standards of security and reliability whichdemonstrates our continued dedication to innovation, excellence and providing our partners with the best possible experience.”
The SOC 2 Type I audit, completed in January of 2022, confirmed the Growers Edge system was designed to keep clients’ sensitive data secure. Passing the SOC 2 Type II audit shows the company has not only established but also follows strict information security policies and procedures encompassing the five Trust Services Principles defined by the Assurance Services Executive Committee of the AICPA.
Growers Edge completed its SOC journey with the assistance of Ankeny, Iowa-based information security company Pratum, an HBS brand, and UHY, one of the nation’s largest professional services firms.
“Growers Edge has gone to great lengths to establish that they are willing to gain independent assurance from a leading audit firm to ensure high levels of data security,” said Matthew McGill, Senior Information Security Consultant at Pratum. “This step towards SOC 2 compliance gives their partners and customers confidence that they have the safeguards in place to minimize the likelihood of a data breach or security incident.”
